HI James,
First, please realize that Elan is not personally answering questions directly on this board. We are the curators of the site. We personally live in alignment with the insights of Elan, and we are the ones that give our own answers, from our own point of view, and our own understanding of the material.
We are also familiar with the Seth material. And to your question, answering merely yes or no would be an incomplete answer. To more fully answer your question, it is our understanding that the "inner self" that Seth speaks about and the "higher self" that Bashar speaks about are basically similar, but with a few distinctions.
With Seth's version, the inner self is described as more of an integrated aspect of our being that we can access and explore, and that our current identity is just one aspect of this more extensive self. Seth also talks about the inner self as being actively involved in creating our reality from our beliefs, emotions and thoughts. It is described as an integral part of our daily consciousness, involved in our daily lives. Seth says that this is accessed through meditation, dream analysis, self-reflection and self-awareness.
Bashar basically agrees with this but often presents a nuance that the higher self is a more evolved, guiding presence from a higher dimension. When he says this, he describes the Higher Self as overseeing our spiritual evolution and life choices, helping guide us towards our highest potential from a broader, more informed/aware perspective. Bashar says that this is accessed by aligning to our excitement and awareness of synchronicity.
Elan's explanations are basically in alignment with both, but I have not seen Elan emphasize the guiding presence as being of a higher dimension. But this may all just be semantics. Both Bashar and Elan have described the Higher Self as being akin to the Oversoul.
This is just our take on it, maybe others see this differently. But it's fun to think about this stuff, and to discuss it, so if this brings up any other ideas, feelings, or questions, feel free to continue...
